DARLINGTON — A Warren man with four prior convictions of drunken driving was arrested again over the weekend for the same offense after his vehicle went into a ditch south of Shullsburg, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Jon S. Simmons, 56, was jailed on a fifth-offense charge of operating while intoxicated, a felony. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

Simmons was arrested after deputies responded for a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County A, Town of White Oak Springs, at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The Shullsburg Police Department assisted at the scene.

Court records for Lafayette County Circuit Court show Simmons still owes a $733.50 fine for a 1999 conviction of first-offense operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration.
