MONROE - A woman who died due to injuries sustained in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Wisconsin 69 south of County FF Monday has been identified as Donna Green, 56, Monroe.

The driver of the second vehicle, Barbara S. Stuzke, 61, Sterling, Ill., and her passenger, Stacey M. Bontz, 36, Rock Falls, Ill., were seriously injured in the crash and were flown by Medflight helicopters to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, according to Green County Sheriff Mark Rohloff.

A UW Hospital spokesperson said Tuesday evening that both Stuzke and Bontz remain in critical condition.

All three individuals had to be extricated from their vehicles after Green's car crossed into the opposite lane of Wis. 69 and collided with Stutzke's vehicle at about 4 p.m. Monday. Green died before first responders could fully extricate her, according to the Monroe Fire Department, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by Green County Deputy Coroner Jody Makos.

This is Green County's first fatal traffic accident in 2015.

Rohloff said preliminary investigation seems to show drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, but a toxicology report has yet to be concluded.

"There is nothing for me to point towards alcohol as a cause at this time," Rohloff said.

The cause to the accident will likely not be available for a few weeks while the Wisconsin State Patrol accident reconstruction team finishes investigating the crash.

Wis. 69 south of County FF to County DR was closed for about four hours Monday night.

Monroe Police Department, Monroe Fire Department, Monticello Fire Department, Juda Fire Department, Green County EMS and Green County deputies assisted at the scene of the crash on Monday.

Funeral arrangements for Green are pending with Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe.
