Two arrested in pot bust

MONROE - Monroe police and agents of the Stateline Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) executed a search warrant at about 7 a.m. Friday at 1511 20th Ave., following a long-term investigation into alleged illegal drug activity.

Several people were found in the residence during the search; two were arrested.

Ellis E. Williams, 19, Monroe, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and within 1,000 feet of a school, and with possession of drug paraphernalia. Williams was transported to Green County jail and held pending a later court date.

David A. Burgos, 19, Monroe, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and within 1,000 feet of a school and with possession of drug paraphernalia. Burgos was transported to Green County jail and held on a probation violation. He pleaded no contest to possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor, on July 20 and was fined $375.

During the search marijuana was seized, along with other drug paraphernalia, materials and measuring devices and packing materials.

There were no injuries during the incident.

The residence is located near St. Victor Catholic Church School, 1416 20th Ave.

The Stateline Area Narcotics Team is a multi-agency drug task force made up of law enforcement personnel from the Illinois State Police; Rockford, Loves Park and Freeport, police departments in Illinois; Stephenson County Sheriff's Department, Ill.; Green County Sheriff's Department, and the Monroe Police Department.
