MONROE - A trial date of Nov. 14 has been set for a Monroe man accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting a teen, whom he later adopted.

The date was set during a status conference on Thursday for James M. Norquay, 49, who was not in court. Defense attorney, Eric Schulenburg, appeared on his behalf.

Green County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Vale said the trial could take as long as five days.

"It shouldn't take a week, but at least three days," said Assistant Attorney General Dennis Krueger, who is prosecuting the case.

Krueger has given Schulenburg 4,000 pages of documents, and other evidence in discovery. Schulenburg said he is still reviewing the material.

For the trial, a pool of 70 potential jurors will be initially identified.

A questionnaire will used to further evaluate their eligibility, according to testimony.

A telephone conference on the case is set for July 8.

Norquay, a former state patrolman, is charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child, a class C felony; three counts of sexual assault of child by foster parent or treatment foster parent, a class C felony; and two counts of incest with a child, a class C felony.
