MONROE - A 30-year-old Madison man was cited for texting while driving Friday, July 13, after a two-vehicle crash that injured a pedestrian and two children.
Joshua B. Byer was texting in the W5800 block of Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Monroe when the crash occurred, according to a release from the Green County Sheriff's Department. Deputies were dispatched at 4:37 p.m.
Byer was eastbound on Wisconsin 11 when he collided with a truck and trailer parked along the highway and operated by Cody W. Luck, 19, Madison.
The collision caused the truck and trailer to hit a pedestrian, Allen C. Borntreger, 23, Richland Center. Borntreger was transported by Green County EMS for injuries he sustained.
Also transported with injuries by Green County EMS were two passengers in Byer's vehicle, Abby L. Byer, 9, and McKenzie M. Byer, 12.
Byer's vehicle was very severely damaged and towed. Luck's truck was moderately damaged, and the attached trailer was very severely damaged. Both were removed from the scene.
The Monroe Fire Department also responded to the scene.
