DARLINGTON - A suspect in a triple homicide in Wiota township has been located, according to Lafayette County Sheriff Scott Pedley.
"Law enforcement officers are in contact with the person," Pedley said in a news release this evening, April 28. "The danger to our community, as it relates to the homicide investigation, is now over."
Officials said the sheriff's department was notified at 9:35 a.m. today that a deceased person had been found inside a home in the 9000 block of Phillipine Road in rural South Wayne. The person was found by a family member. Deputies responded and found two additional people at the residence who were also deceased.
The victims have not been positively identified as of this evening; Pedley said their names are being withheld until their identities are confirmed.
Police were seeking a 1998 Ford 150 pickup truck, blue with a blue topper, with Wisconsin license plate 220489F. The pickup truck is registered to one of the victims in the case. The vehicle has also been located in southeastern Wisconsin, Pedley said.
According to officials, early information in the investigation of the case indicated a suspect in the case likely traveled to southeastern Wisconsin.
Late Saturday, April 27, the Green County Sheriff's Department said a Waukesha County man was reported missing in the Browntown area. This afternoon, shortly before 4 p.m., the department said it had been notified by the Waukesha Police Department that the man had been found.
Lafayette County officials could not confirm the missing man found was the suspect in the homicide investigation.
The homicides are being investigated by the state Crime Lab, Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation and the Lafayette County Sheriff's Dept.
