Small business series and Pitch Contest to be held for Green County entrepreneurs
Free training series begins April 3
GCDC

MONROE — Green County Development Corporation and The Bank of New Glarus will once again host a five-part training series for Green County entrepreneurs. The free five-part series incorporates targeted training sessions and includes a cash prize Pitch Contest.

Sessions will be taught Wednesdays through April by experts from the Small Business Development Center and a session with Maia Donohue, Director of the IDEA Hub Accelerator at UW Platteville, and author of The Startup Mentor.

The series kicks off Wednesday, April 3 with “Where Do I Start?” SBDC consultant Nora Roughen-Schmidt will address business plans, financial documents, and the creation of a legal entity.

The remaining sessions include “Your Start-Up in 10 Minutes” with Maia Donohue and continues with the SBDC providing details on “Financing Your Business”, “Growing Your Business”, and culminates with a Pitch Contest.

“Participating in the 2023 Small Business Series was one of the best decisions I could have made to launch my small business vision into reality,” said Lauren Siegenthaler, owner of Erda + Arch, LLC and former participant and Pitch Contest winner, about the program. “I deeply valued the opportunity to sit alongside peers with brilliant dreams, learning with and from one another. This series provided us with the gift of guidance from trusted and local resources who deeply cared for the health and wealth of our small businesses. I entered this class with a dream and left not only with a LLC, but with confidence that I am not alone in navigating life as a small business owner.”

The Pitch Contest allows each participant a chance to present their business idea to mentors and lenders. It is open to participants who attend all sessions and did not win previously. A cash prize will be awarded to the top three best business pitches, and all participants get valuable feedback to help them succeed with future pitches and business growth.

All sessions are held Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at The Bank of New Glarus’ Monroe branch at 701 8th Street.

The event is free and open to Green County residents. Registration is required: http://bit.ly/GCDCSBS. Questions can be sent to gcdc@greencountydevelopment.com or by calling 608-328-9452.
