CADIZ TOWNSHIP - Six people, including four children, were injured in a home explosion Sunday afternoon in Cadiz Township.

A 40-year old-male resident of the home was transported to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison by MedFlight for serious injuries sustained in the explosion. Four children, ages 7 and younger, along with an adult female, all residents of the home, were transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.

The home, located at W8294 Wisconsin 11, was damaged extensively in the blast, sheriff officials said.

The explosion occurred at 3:25 p.m. Fire departments from Browntown, South Wayne and Monroe, along with ambulances from Monroe, Argyle and Lena responded to the scene.

Initial reports indicate the explosion originated in the basement of the home. The state fire marshall's office will investigate; further details are expected to be released in the next few days, the sheriff's department said.
