MONROE - The second installment of real estate taxes is due by Monday, Green County Treasurer Sherri Hawkins reminds taxpayers.
Checks should be made payable to the Green County Treasurer. The treasurer's office is located in the courthouse, 1016 16th Ave., on the first floor, Room 6. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
If mailing payment, include a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive a receipt.
To pay by credit card or by e-check, visit the county website at www.co.green.wi.gov and under quick links, click on Pay Taxes Online. There is an additional fee for the credit card and e-check service.
Banks accepting real estate tax payments during regular business hours are: Monona State Bank in Brooklyn and Belleville; Bank of New Glarus, New Glarus; Sugar River Banks in Belleville, Brodhead, Juda and Monroe; Union Bank & Trust Company, New Glarus and Brooklyn; Associated Bank, Monroe; and the Greenwoods State Bank, Monticello.
Taxes not paid by the due date are subject to August interest and a penalty of 10.5 percent. The interest and penalty will continue to increase each month at the rate of 1.5 percent until the balance is paid in full.
