Green County Sheriff

On September 28:

● At 10:16 p.m., Deputies responded to the W6800 block of State Highway 39, in the Town of New Glarus for the report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Scott M. Mauch, 19 of Evansville was traveling eastbound, when Mauch lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then entered the north ditch and collided with an embankment and a power pole. Mauch reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags had deployed. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Investigation resulted with Mauch being cited for Failure to Control Vehicle. Mauch was released pending court.

● At 1:26 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle registration violation in the 110 1st Center Ave. in the city of Brodhead. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Michael A Kane, 50, South Beloit, Illinois, for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kane was cited for expired registration. He was incarcerated at the Green County Jail pending court.

On September 30:

● At approximately 12:52 p.m., Deputies responded to the Green County Probation and Parole Office, 2841 6th St., City of Monroe, and placed Zachary J. Blackwood, 20, under arrest for a Probation Hold. Zachary was transported to the Green County Jail where he will be held.

On October 1:

● At approximately 2:27 AM, Deputies and Brodhead EMS responded to the N4700 block of County Highway E, Town of Decatur, for a single motorcycle crash with injury. Investigation determined the operator, Jared G. Condon, 31 of Brodhead, was traveling southbound when he lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle overturned in the roadway and Jared then walked himself to the nearest residence to call for help. Jared was transported by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries and the motorcycle was towed from the scene.

● At approximately 3:20 AM, Deputies responded to the W600 block of Bump Rd., Town of Albany, for a report of a subject attempting to hitchhike along the roadway. The subject, Jeremiah L. Darwin, 22 of Evansville, was located and subsequently arrested for an active warrant for Failure to Appear on a prior traffic incident. Jeremiah was transported to the Green County Jail where he will be held until his initial appearance or posting of his bond.

On October 2:

● At 5:42 a.m., Deputies, Brodhead Police, Juda Fire, and Green County EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash in the W1300 block of STH 11, in the Town of Spring Grove. The investigation revealed that Lazaro Martinez Marcial, age 22 of Freeport, was operating a vehicle north on CTH G when he failed to stop at the intersection at STH 11. The vehicle went through the intersection and into a private driveway. The vehicle collided with an unoccupied vehicle parked in the driveway. Lazaro reported wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor facial injuries in the crash but refused treatment at the scene. Lazaro’s white 2018 Ford Escape sustained disabling damage to the front and multiple airbags deployed. The damaged Ford was towed from the scene. The parked Chevrolet Express G3500 van sustained disabling damage to the right side; there was no airbag deployment. The damaged van was towed from the scene. Following the investigation, Lazaro was arrested for operating while under the influence. Lazaro was also cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration, failure to maintain control, operating without a license, non-registration of auto, and no insurance. Lazaro was released to a responsible party pending a mandatory court appearance.


Lafayette County Sheriff

On September 28:

● 6:41 p.m. Ioannis A Karavergos, 57, Shullsburg was arrested on a Lafayette County warrant and transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he remains in custody.

On October 1:

● 6:52 a.m. Deputies responded to S Park ST, Village of Belmont for a hit and run. Saira E. Cervantes-Araujo, 24, Belmont was cited for Operating without a Valid License and Inattentive Driving.

● 2:15 a.m. Deputies responded to Grandview AV in the Village of Argyle for a theft.

● 6:22 a.m. Terri J Bennett, 55, Shullsburg reported striking a deer on STH 78, Gratiot Township. No injuries were reported and Bennett’s 2022 Jeep received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

● 9:33 a.m. A deputy responded to Kingsley RD, Gratiot Township for a theft.

On October 3:

● 2:28 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 11, Shullsburg Township for a hit and run.

● 5:40 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH K, Darlington Township for a one vehicle accident. Domminus R Anzaldua, 19, Darlington was traveling southbound on CTH K in a 1998 Toyota when he failed to negotiate a turn, entered the ditch, struck a sign and came to rest in the ditch. No injuries were reported and Anzaldua’s vehicle was towed from the scene with disabling damage. Anzaldua was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

On October 4:

● 9:38 a.m. Belmont Fire and Belmont EMS responded to a two vehicle accident on CTH O, Kendall Township. Belmont Police and a deputy assisted.

● 8:57 p.m. Todd C. Jones, 57, Marion reported striking a deer on USH 151, Belmont Township. Jones’ 2010 Toyota received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
