MILWAUKEE — A locally-produced, nationally-honored podcast has achieved a historic first for the podcasting medium, embarking on a ride along with the famed U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron at the unit’s Pensacola, Fla. headquarters.
And, in a fun Wisconsin twist, a Madison-raised Navy pilot, Lt. Commander Griffin Stangel, was at the controls of the two-seater Blue Angels F/A-18 fighter jet.
A 52-minute video mini-documentary encapsulating the entire tale is now available to stream for free at https://youtu.be/P_J040T9HiU.
Hosted by 2003 Monroe High School graduate Dusty Weis, a former Wisconsin journalist and PR practitioner, Lead Balloon is an audio storytelling podcast that parses behind-the-scenes lessons from professional communicators at some of the world’s most influential brands.
Produced at Milwaukee podcast production studio Podcamp Media, Lead Balloon has been nominated for a Webby Award, honored by Adweek as “Marketing Podcast of the Year,” and profiled on Forbes.com.
“Riding with the Blue Angels was a life-changing experience for me, and a great chance to learn from some of the best strategic communicators in the business,” Weis said. “As much as I enjoy telling stories via podcasting, it was a special opportunity for us to share this tale as a visual experience as well.”
