MONROE — One driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash just north of Monroe midday Wednesday, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and Green County EMS were called to the accident scene on Wisconsin 69 at Aebly Road at 11:18 a.m., said Sgt. Britt Gempeler.

Wanda Bowles, 61, rural Monticello, was northbound on Wis. 69 and was stopped at Aebly Road/County FF waiting to turn left onto Aebly Road when she was rear-ended.

The other driver, Jeffrey L. Ace, 18, Monticello, was trying to pass Bowles on the right when he collided with her vehicle, Gempeler said.

Bowles was injured and had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Monroe Fire Department because her door wouldn’t open, Gempeler said. She was taken by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic ER. Both vehicles had airbag deployment, sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Ace was cited for unsafe passing on the right. Ace was not injured after being checked by medical personnel.
