MONROE - Pleas of not guilty were entered Thursday, Aug. 9, for an Albany man charged last week with sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl.
Derek Joseph Grinnell, 23, appeared in court in custody and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Judge Thomas Vale found probable cause for the charges and bound the case for trial.
Grinnell faces a Class B felony charge of first-degree sexual assault of a child, two Class I felony counts of exposing his genitals to a child and a Class D felony charge of child enticement involving sexual contact.
Grinnell admitted to an investigating officer that he sexually assaulted the girl on July 28 and that he has searched for and looked at child porn on the Internet, according to police reports filed with the criminal complaint.
He asked the officer to get him counseling help for his "anger and sexual urges."
A pre-trial conference on the case is scheduled Sept. 4.
