VERONA — A 56-year-old New Glarus man was arrested April 19 for his ninth drunken driving offense, according to the Verona Police Department.
Todd P. Olson faces the ninth charge of operating while intoxicated, a Class F felony punishable by up to 12 and a half years in prison, in Dane County Circuit Court.
Olson was arrested after Verona police responded at about 3:45 p.m. to the area of U.S. 151 and County M for a report of an erratic driver. Police reported he failed sobriety tests, had his blood drawn for a test and was taken to the Dane County Jail. He was also cited for having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
State court records show Olson was convicted of his sixth OWI in 2001 in Dane County and sentenced to probation. His probation was revoked due to his seventh OWI, in Sheboygan County, and he was sentenced to three years in prison and two years on extended supervision.
His extended supervision was then also revoked, this time for his eighth OWI, in Dane County, and he was sentenced to two and a half more years in prison.
