Motorcycle vs. truck leaves 2 dead near Albany

TOWN OF MAGNOLIA — Two Rock County residents were killed after their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck northeast of Albany at the Green-Rock county line.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at Wisconsin 104 at Dunphy Road, according to a Rock County Sheriff’s Office news release.

A northbound pickup truck on Wis. 104, driven by a 40-year-old Evansville man, was stopped and waiting for southbound traffic to clear to turn left onto Dunphy Road.

The motorcycle, driven by 67-year-old Albert H. Kath III of Janesville, was northbound on Wis. 104 behind the pickup truck. As the pickup began to turn, Kath’s motorcycle collided with the rear of the pickup.

Kath and his passenger, 57-year-old Tammy S. Northrup of Beloit, were ejected and pronounced dead on scene.

Neither was wearing a helmet. The pickup driver was uninjured.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. No law enforcement action was immediately taken.
