MONROE - People once again had to dig out after more snow fell on Green and Lafayette counties Monday and Tuesday morning.
About 8 inches of snow fell throughout the day and evening and winds caused drifting on the roads.
Terry Rutsch, owner of Don's Towing in Monroe, said most of the calls he and his drivers responded to were in town.
"We've had a couple rollovers in town, which is kind of surprising," he said. "I think the county did a pretty good job of getting the roads cleared."
Rutsch said he tends to see more sport utility vehicles and four-wheel drive vehicles in ditches because the drivers think they have better traction. They can be fooled by a false sense of security and, like everyone else, need to slow down.
"Give yourself plenty of time to get where you're going and don't following someone too close," he said. "Give yourself time to slow down if you have to."
Green County Highway Commissioner Dallas Cecil said crews were out at 4 a.m. today and most of the state highways were "pretty good" but still slippery in spots. County roads were snow covered.
"We're going to try to put salt down today and see how much that helps," he said.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department reported roads there also were snow-covered and slippery.
There were 11 vehicle crashes due to the weather, according to local law enforcement.
