MONROE - At a meeting Wednesday, the City of Monroe Plan Commission:

• Reviewed a site plan for a proposed retail center to be located at 301 Sixth Avenue, east of Monroe Truck Equipment, and approved the plan, except for the parking lot.

• Recommended to Council to rezone the property at 301 Sixth Avenue from M-1 (light industrial) and R-1 (residential) to GB-2 (general business).

• Discussed and recommend to the Public Property Committee to vacate and discontinue the right of way at 301 Sixth Avenue.

• Reviewed a PUD application for Northwest Park Condominium project near 27th Avenue and Sixth Street, and directed City Attorney Rex Ewald to proceed with the PUD. Nate Klassy voted against the motion.

• Discussed rezoning various property along Fourth Avenue West. Not knowing the ramifications of rezoning on buffer zone responsibilities, the commission asked Ewald to research the issue and return March 11, when the commission will revisit the item.
