LCHD now a Certified Water Testing Laboratory for bacteria, nitrate

DARLINGTON — The Lafayette County Health Department is now a Certified Water Testing Laboratory for bacteria and nitrate.  

It is recommended that all wells used for drinking water be tested for safety. We are here to help get answers quickly and conveniently. Prices and submission days subject to change.

The Health Department provides well water testing kits 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.  

Water samples can be submitted Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tests are $30 each. Tests performed at the Lafayette County Health Department are:

●  Bacteria (total coliform)

●  Nitrate/Nitrite

Test kits available at the Lafayette County Health Department are:

●  Bacteria (total coliform)

●  Nitrite

●  Lead

●  Arsenic

Water samples can also be submitted to the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene for testing. The cost of testing at the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene can be found at www.slh.wisc.edu/
