MONROE - The victim of a fatal house fire on County P early Thursday morning has been identified as Randy J. Eberle, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
The fire broke out just after midnight at the farmhouse, located at W6429 County P.
Deputies arriving on the scene were told someone had entered the two-story, wood-frame home with a fire extinguisher but had not come back out.
Human remains were found after the blaze were extinguished. Lt. Paul Weichbrod said dental records were used to identify the victim as Eberle.
Friends and neighbors have organized a collection effort to help the Eberle family. Information on that effort appears on Page A5.
A celebration of life service for Eberle is planned for Wednesday; information is on Page A2.
