Hendrickson awarded national honor
Corrine Hendrickson

NEW GLARUS — Corrine Hendrickson, family child care owner of Corrine’s Little Explorers in New Glarus, was awarded the Ruby Brunson Community Advocate Award, presented by the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).

NAFCC is a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to promoting high-level child care by strengthening the profession of family child care for nearly one million paid home-based early learning programs. Since 1982, NAFCC has been supporting family child care throughout the country as educators intentionally choose to offer high-level early care and education in their homes.

NAFCC presented Family Child Care industry awards at their annual conference in Atlanta to celebrate the remarkable contributions and achievements made by individuals in the field of family child care.

Awardees are an individual family child care provider who has shown dedication and commitment to advocate on behalf of family child care. The award was named in Ruby Brunson’s honor to recognize her remarkable leadership in Oakland, Calif.  She dedicated her life to the professional development of providers, and her advocacy efforts lifted family child care as a viable and valuable child care option.

Awardees demonstrate a commitment to NAFCC’s mission to promote the power of family child care through advocacy at the local, state or federal level.

Tammy Danhoff, Vice President of NAFCC nominated Hendrickson.

“Since I have known her, she has gone above and beyond to help other family child care providers advocate for their profession,” Danhoff said. “Tirelessly, Corrine always advocates for family child care and educates providers on how to advocate for themselves. If you have a question, she will find the answer. She has become the leading force and leader in Wisconsin for family child care.”
