MONROE - Covering The Beatles, Queen and Chet Atkins, acoustic "fingerstyle" guitarist Shaun Hopper will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Monroe Arts Center.

Reserved-seat tickets are $25 and $20 for adults and $10 for students ages 18 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the box office located at 1315 11th St., Monroe, by calling 608-325-5700 or online at monroeartscenter.com.

Hopper's signature style crosses the full range of musical genres, including alternative, percussive new-age, jazz, rock, classical, blues, folk and Irish folk. Between songs, he tells tales from his Georgia roots.

Born and raised in Adel, Georgia, Hopper began playing guitar at age 12 after hearing a local street musician fingerpick a Nirvana song outside the local arcade. Within weeks, he had his first guitar.

In 2007, Hopper won for "Best Instrumental Song" at the Winfield National Fingerpicking Championship, according to a MAC news release.

Later that year, he won second place in the singer-songwriter competition at Atlanta's "Shootout Competition" without singing a single note, being the first and only instrumentalist ever to achieve the recognition.

Hopper was also a featured headliner at the 2012 National Association of Music Merchants show.

The concert is supported by season corporate underwriter Colony Brands Inc. and season media underwriter Big Radio. Additional support is provided by Gateway Financial Advisors; Monroe Clinic; Mike and Norah Sanders; David and Julie Buchanan; Joseph and Melinda Najat; Chuck and Chris Wellington; Dan and Sandy Bestul; Mike and Marian Furgal; Carl Hearing and Rachel Pinnow; Richard Luthin; Kevin Indergand and Christine Pieper; Dave Stute and Peg Rasch; and Brian and Cindy Zimmerman.
