Green County Historical Society: Interior of former Universalist Church
55763a.jpg
Photo supplied by the Green County Historical Society
This photo shows the interior of the former Universalist Church, which has served now as the museum for the Green County Historical Society for 50 years. Four of the pieces of furniture shown in this photo (three chairs and the table in the foreground) plus one more chair are now housed in the museum, thanks to the Monroe Arts Center. It takes a large amount of money to maintain and improve a building with so much history. The Monroe Moose Lodge is sponsoring a benefit breakfast to help raise funds to finish the restoration of the stained glass windows on the front of the building. The all-you-can-eat meal will be served from 8 a.m. until noon Sunday at the Moose Lodge, 639 3rd Ave., Monroe. The continued support of the community is very much appreciated and members of the Society hope to see many on Sunday. The latest book, "Monroe Area Pictorial History," will be available for purchase. With any questions about the society or the breakfast, contact Matt Figi at 608-325-6503 or mfigi48@tds.net.
