'Grazing as a Land Use Option' workshop set for Saturday, Dec. 14

DODGEVILLE - The "Grazing as a Land Use Option - An Introduction to Managed Grazing" workshop is set for 8:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Iowa County Health and Human Services building, 303 W. Chapel St.

The workshop is available for landowners who own expiring Conservation Reserve Program acreage or idle grassland and are interested in conservation and income. The workshop will explore managed grazing as an alternative that provides both income and conservation benefits.

Landowners involved in grazing arrangements will be featured along with presentations from local grazing and conservation experts, as well as new resources and tools for assisting landowners in establishing grazing practices on their land and brokering relationships with area graziers will be unveiled.

The Grazing as a Land Use Option workshop is hosted by Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development in partnership with the WI Dept. of Natural Resources; WI Dept. of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection; County Land Conservation Departments; USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; The Nature Conservancy; Pheasants Forever; and Trout Unlimited.
