MONROE — On Feb. 5, the Green County Sheriff’s Department shared on social media about a recent trend of scam phone calls in the area.
“We have been notified that a couple Green County residents have received phone calls stating that they did not show up for jury duty and now must pay a fine. The number that the scammer is calling from has a fictitious voicemail that is very similar to what you would hear if you call our agency,” the department wrote on Facebook. “If you are a victim of this scam, please call the non-emergency phone number of your local law enforcement agency to report it.”
