During the week of May 23, Dane County Contracting continued with the installation of 8-inch water main from 18th Avenue to mid-1900 block of 9th Street. They also installed new 8-inch water main along 18th Avenue South of 9th Street and along 15th Avenue North of 9th Street. They installed 840 feet of water main.

Rock Road Companies continued with the installation of 18-inch, 15-inch, and 12-inch concrete storm sewer lateral pipe along 9th Street from 11th Avenue to 13th Avenue. They installed about 200 feet of storm sewer. Rock Road has completed the excavation of the subsoil of the street from the 11th Avenue to 12th Avenue, and has removed concrete pavement from 11th Avenue to 12th Avenue. After the soil and rock excavation they placed 6 inches of breaker run, and an initial layer of the 13 inches of gravel base course. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, has removed the bridge from its abutments. The concrete bridge abutments have also been completely removed and demolished.

Next week, Dane County Contracting will continue with water main installation along 9th Street from mid-1900 block to 20th Avenue and along 16th Avenue north of 9th Street to the mid-block. Once water main is installed, they will go back to 16th Avenue and continue on with the installation of the sanitary sewer main. They will install sanitary sewer services up to the property line (back of sidewalk) and re-connect water services up to the terrace as they work down the street towards 20th Avenue. Once the new water services are connected, the final connection of the new water main will be completed at the avenue intersections abandoning the old water main in 9th Street.

Next week, Rock Road Companies will start removing concrete pavement from 12th Avenue to 13th Avenue and along 13th Avenue from 9th Street to 10th Street. They will continue with storm sewer lateral installation from 11th Avenue working towards 13th Avenue. After the concrete is removed from 12th to 13th Avenue, the grading crew will go back and continue with the placement of the street base from 12th Avenue to 13th Avenue and continue working east to join up with the storm sewer crew. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, will begin driving piles for the foundation of the new bridge. Voegeli Landscaping will start working on retaining wall installation at the new bridge location once the piles are driven.

All intersections will remain open for cross traffic the majority of the time, except when they have to install utilities through the intersection. The intersections will be completely barricaded when this is happening as well as partial closure at the prior intersection. Otherwise the barricades will be offset to allow for cross traffic.
