Monroe Police

MONROE — A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported in the 500 block of 8th Street at 8:13 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20. Patrick P. Bodell, 39, Monroe, was westbound on 8th Street when he rear-ended another westbound vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Monroe man who had slowed to turn left. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but were driven from the scene. Bodell was cited for following too closely.

On Monday, Dec. 23:

●  An accident with no injuries was reported at 10:03 a.m. Laura M. Dombrowski, 59, Monroe, was westbound on 14th Street. After stopping at the stop sign at 13th Avenue, she nearly hit a southbound vehicle on 13th Avenue driven by Demarie S. Baker, 52, Monroe. Baker swerved to avoid the collision and collided instead with a stop sign. Her vehicle sustained moderate damage. Dombrowski was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign.

●  A car vs. bicycle accident was reported at 5:02 p.m. at the intersection of 8th Street and 8th Avenue. Allison K. Knouse, 63, Dakota, was waiting to turn and collided with a bicyclist in the crosswalk, Ralph A. Bradt, 66, Monroe. She thought Bradt was waiting for her to go first, and Bradt thought she was waiting for him to go first. Bradt was taken by Green County EMS to Monroe Clinic for treatment of minor injuries. Knouse’s vehicle had no damage. She was cited for failure to yield right-of-way to a bicyclist.

MONROE — On Sunday, Dec. 22:

●  Nicholas M. Hauser, 41, Monticello, and his passengers reported no injuries from a one-vehicle crash at 1:48 a.m. in the W6000 block of County C, Town of Washington. He was westbound when he lost control and entered the south ditch. The vehicle then overturned. Hauser was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated and cited for operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration greater than .15% and failure to keep a vehicle under control. He was released pending court.

●  John M. Diederich, 19, Belleville, reported no injuries from a one-vehicle crash at 7:31 a.m. in the W7300 block of Wis. 39, Town of York. He was westbound when he lost control while negotiating a curve. The vehicle entered the ditch, where it overturned and hit several fence posts. It came to rest on its wheels.

DARLINGTON — On Sunday, Dec. 1:

●  No injuries or damages were reported from a one-vehicle crash at 5:26 p.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont. Hunter A. Vaassen, 22, Dickeyville, lost control due to icy road conditions and went into the ditch.

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 6:05 p.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont. Eric B. Schneider, 22, Franklin, was southbound when he lost control due to icy road conditions. The 2009 Buick slid down an embankment. It sustained moderate damage and was towed. Schneider was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

●  A one-vehicle accident was reported at 7:56 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove. Charles A. Vesbach, 54, Platteville, was westbound when he lost control due to icy road conditions. His 2007 Chevrolet hit a guardrail. It sustained moderate damage and was towed. Vesbach was cited for driving too fast for conditions and not wearing a seatbelt. The Platteville Fire Department, Southwest Heath EMS, Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Front County Highway Department assisted on scene.

On Monday, Dec. 2:

●  A two-vehicle accident was reported at 1:55 a.m. on South McKnight Street in South Wayne. Rex A. Weber, 62, South Wayne, was southbound when he hit a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle owned by Elizabeth M. Hagen, 27, South Wayne. No injuries were reported. Weber’s 2003 GMC sustained moderate front-end damage. Hagen’s 2014 Buick sustained severe rear-end damage. Both vehicle remained parked at the scene.

●  Evelyn R. Wruble, 57, Platteville, reported hitting a deer at 5:42 a.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Kendall. No injuries were reported. The 2014 Mazda sustained moderate damage.

On Tuesday, Dec. 3:

●  Stanley K. Smith, 62, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 3:40 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington. No injuries were reported. The 2006 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage and was towed.

●  Adrianna R. Gale, 28, Argyle, reported hitting a deer at 6:16 p.m. on County G, Town of Argyle. No injuries were reported. The 2015 GMC sustained minor damage.

●  No injuries were reported from a cow vs. vehicle accident at 9:16 p.m. on Tollakson Road, Town of Wayne. Gregory R. Tollakson, 56, South Wayne, was northbound when he struck the cow. His 2001 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4:

●  James J. Hartwig, 17, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 10:14 p.m. on County F, Town of Fayette. The 2013 Ford sustained moderate damage.

On Thursday, Dec. 5:

●  A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 2:37 p.m. on Miner Way in Shullsburg. Josue G. Maturano-Estrada, 29, Loves Park, Illinois, and Donald L. Lee, 68, Shullsburg, were parked in a commercial lot. While exiting, Lee’s 1996 Toyota and Maturano-Estrada’s 2014 Lexus backed into one another. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

●  A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 3:51 p.m. on East Liberty Street in Belmont. Scott R. Peterson, 64, Darlington, was backing a 2011 Freightliner school bus owned by the Belmont School District out of a parking lot when he backed into a 2015 Subaru owned by Kelly A. Abernathy, 49, St. Croix Falls.

On Saturday, Dec. 7:

●  A one-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 12:13 p.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Gratiot.

●  Mary E. McQuiety, 81, Shullsburg reported no injuries and her passenger had minor injuries from a one-vehicle accident at 1:43 p.m. on West Estey Street in Shullsburg. The Shullsburg Fire Department and Shullsburg EMS responded. McQuiety was leaving a parking spot in her 2017 Ford when she accelerated and lost control. She crossed the street, entered a yard, struck a garden shed and came to rest when she hit a tree. The Ford sustained severe damage and was towed.
