MONROE — A Brodhead man was in a rollover crash that left him injured and facing a third charge of operating while intoxicated.

The incident occurred just after 12:05 a.m. the N4500 block of County Highway E, Town of Decatur.

Investigation revealed that a car driven by Benjamin R. Brown, 45, of Brodhead was traveling northbound, “when his vehicle left the roadway and entered the north ditch and collided with a sign and a tree,” said a statement from the Green County Sheriff’s Office. “The vehicle then rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest.”

Brown sustained injuries characterized by police as non-life-threatening in the crash. He was reportedly wearing his seatbelt, and the vehicles airbag system did not deploy.

The vehicle, however, sustained “disabling damage” and was towed from the scene.

Brown was arrested at the scene for OWI, his third such charge. Brown was further cited by police for Failure to Control Vehicle, and Inattentive Driving. Brown was released pending court.

A third OWI in Wisconsin is not a felony unless a child under 16 is present.
