MONROE - A 19-year-old from Fennimore was convicted Thursday, March 7, with smuggling 80 pills to her brother in the Green County Jail.

Jaime E. Vogt is sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to complete 50 hours of community service, according to court records.

Judge James Beer also ordered her to undergo an assessment for alcohol or other drug abuse and pay the remainder of her court fees, $176.

Court records indicate she gave the pills to her brother Robert B. Vogt, 20, while he was on Huber work release from the jail Jan. 10, 2012. He then reportedly hid the pills in his rectum to get them past the security check at the jail.

She pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge of encouraging a probation violation. Two related felony charges of delivering a prescription drug and possessing a controlled substance were dismissed as part of her plea agreement.

The smuggled pills included 35 tablets of the anti-psychotic Seroquel, 37 tablets of the antidepressant amitriptyline and eight tablets of the muscle relaxant zolpidem (commonly known as Ambien), according to criminal complaints filed last November.

Her brother is facing related charges but has not yet pleaded to the two misdemeanor counts against him.

If she successfully completes probation, she is entitled to have the conviction expunged from her record, based on a state law that grants leniency to youthful offenders.
