Wes Retzlaff, 85 of Rockton, Illinois died at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Amberwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was born October 13, 1927 in Seymour, Wisconsin, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Peter and Clara (Albert) Retzlaff. He married the former Audrey Blum in Juda, Wisconsin on August 18, 1951. Wes was employed as a special education speech therapist and early childhood teacher by the Barrington School District, retiring in 1982. He is a veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Army. He attended Hope Evangelical Free Church in Roscoe, Illinois. Wes graduated from Illinois State University with his undergraduate and master's degrees. Survivors include wife: Audrey Retzlaff of Rockton, Illinois; sons, David (Jennifer) of Rockford, Illinois, Mark (Norma) of Lombard, Illinois, Timothy of VanNuys, California; grandchildren, Emma, Andrew, Nicole, Austin; brother James (Geraldine) Retzlaff of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; sisters-in-laws, Jeanette Retzlaff of Cambridge, Wisconsin and Barbara Retzlaff of Lake Mills, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Hope Evangelical Free Church 5656 Elevator Road Roscoe, Illinois with Rev. Ken Bergstedt officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Juda, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to time of funeral Saturday. A memorial is being established.
