Wayne T. Collins, age 78 of Argyle, WI, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI surrounded by his family. He was born December 6, 1931, in Ottawa, IL, the son of Thomas and Mary (Zant) Collins. Wayne grew up in Blackstone, IL, and later moved to Seneca, IL. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1949. Wayne was united in marriage to Irma Thorson on January 27, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Seneca. Following his marriage they moved to Ottawa where he worked at Libby-Owens Glass Factory. They then began farming in Blackstone in 1959. In 1974, they moved to rural Argyle where they farmed near Yellowstone Lake. In 1976, they owned and operated Irma's Kitchen in Argyle while they continued to farm. In 1978, they moved to Gratiot, WI, to farm and in 1982 they moved to Argyle, where he worked at the Argyle Implement and at Irma's Kitchen before officially retiring in 2000.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife: Irma at home; nine children: Diane (Rod) Watts of Ransom, IL, Cynthia (Roger) Summers of Marion, KY, Mary Jane Yedinak of Morris, IL, Judy (Andrew) Pink of Monroe, Betty Jo (Roger) Tourdot of Rochelle, IL, John Collins of Gratiot, Janet (John) Fox of Wiota, WI, Joyce (Joe) Flanagan and Patricia (Richard) Noble both of Argyle; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and one brother: Thomas (Anna) Collins of Varna, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Richard and Robert Collins; and one sister: Carol Ann Collins.
Wayne was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading and keeping up on politics and current events.
Public Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 213 North Lafayette Street in Argyle with Rev. David Wanish officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in rural Argyle. A private family visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010. Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Wayne's name.
