Viola M. White, age 84 of Monroe, died unexpectedly Monday, August 28, 2017 at her home. She was born on October 11, 1932 in Winslow, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Christian Fredrick and Carrie (May Lake) Borchardt. She attended Winslow and Monroe schools. Viola married Earl L. White in 1989 in Monroe. Viola worked hard on the farm with Earl; milking cows, raising chickens & hogs, baling hay, mowing grass and gardening ; especially her flowers.
She taught herself how to cook. Anyone that knew her always wanted one of her pies. Over the years she had made over 300 doz Xmas cookies for local bank parties, deviled eggs for every funeral luncheon and pies, oh the pies. She just made 8 for a recent church social and always dozens for the Picker's Flea Market.
She also taught herself how to crochet. She always had a crochet hook in her hand, even minutes before she passed. She showed off her crocheting and baking talents at 5 local fairs over the years and had won over 30 Best of Show awards.
She was a member of Peace Church in Christ in Browntown and the Homemakers club. She enjoyed taking car rides, playing bingo, listening to live music, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing scratch-off tickets and weeding her flowers around a 500' picket fence, with only a putty knife-really!
She is survived by her only daughter, Susan (Tom) Konopacki of Monroe; a brother, John "Fritz" Borchardt of Richland Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, George Borchardt and sister, Rosemary Borchardt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Peace Church in Christ in Browntown, with Rev. Wayne Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Hawthorne cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home. Memorials can be made in her name to Peace Church.
