Vernon H. Priebe, age 88, of rural Argyle, died on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 11, 1926 in Evergreen Park, IL; the son of Albert and Jesse (Lange) Priebe and attended Blue Island High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from September 1950 to December 1956.
Vernon and Carol (Woodruff) were married on November 17, 1956 in Chicago Heights, IL.
Vernon was a semi-driver hauling steel until 1969 and then moved to Browntown in 1970 and started farming until retiring in 1991.
Vernon was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, American Legion in Argyle and served on the Jordan Township board for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Argyle, sons, Brett Priebe of Argyle, Brian (Andrea) Priebe of Monroe, Clark Priebe of Browntown, daughter, Joi (Gary) Keepers of Monroe, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Vernon is predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, Alvin and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Ave., in Monroe with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will follow in Jordan Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
