Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Timothy E. Akins, 35, South Wayne, reported no injuries at 9:13 a.m. Saturday, June 16, after a deer ran into the side of his vehicle on Wisconsin 11 west of Mount Hope Road in the Town of Spring Grove, causing minor damage. The vehicle was driveable.

- No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident involving a Monroe Police Department squad at the intersection of 21st Avenue and 15th Street at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, June 16. The driver of the squad, Christian S. Hammel, 29, Monroe, reportedly pulled into the intersection after stopping at a stop sign and hit the rear passenger side of a vehicle driven by Anthony R. Rogerson, 50, Monroe. The squad sustained moderate front-end damage, and Hammel drove it from the scene. Rogerson's vehicle sustained minor rear driver side damage, and Rogerson drove it from the scene.

- Richard L. McKinney, 29, Brodhead, was injured and transported by private vehicle to the Monroe Clinic ER after deputies responded at 1:59 p.m. Sunday, June 17, to a moped crash in the W700 block of Taylor Trail in Brodhead. McKinney was turning onto Taylor Trail from his driveway when he lost control on some loose gravel, the moped slid sideways and he was ejected. The moped sustained minor damage. McKinney was not wearing a helmet or eye protection.

- No injuries were reported when deputies responded at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, June 17, to an accident on County E west of St. John Road in the Town of Decatur. Kody A. Greenquist, 18, Cary, Ill., told deputies he failed to negotiate a curve while swerving to avoid a deer and the vehicle crashed into the ditch. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Rosemary E. Kuenster, 79, Lancaster, reported at 8:20 p.m. Friday, June 12, that she hit a deer on Wisconsin 81 in the Town of Elk Grove.

- Tyler D. Pahnke, 19, Shullsburg, reported at 12:19 a.m. Sunday, June 17, that he hit a raccoon on Copeland Road in the Town of Shullsburg.

- Marianna B. Shershneva, 44, Madison, was injured at 10:34 a.m. Sunday, June 17, in an ATV accident on the Cheese Country Trail. She lost control and veered into the nearby river after she came around a curve in the trail and was met by other ATVs traveling in the opposite direction. The Darlington Fire and Police Departments and Rural Medical Ambulance assisted at the scene.
