New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - Injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 3:02 p.m. July 18 at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 2nd Street. Reports indicate that Axel R. Swanson, 75, New Glarus, failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a vehicle driven by Terri M. Schmit, Blue Mounds. Both vehicles had severe damage. One person, whose name was not immediately released, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Swanson was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Kyle E. Zwicker, 17, Argyle, reported hitting a deer at 9:59 a.m. Friday. Reports indicate that the incident occurred the night before at 10:50 p.m. on Wis. 81, near County J. The vehicle was driven from the scene.

- No injuries were reported during a one-vehicle accident at 2:10 p.m. Saturday in the W4400 block of Wis. 59 in the Town of Sylvester. Reports indicate that Michael J. Jerge, 45, Monroe, was traveling east on Wis. 59 when an airborne turkey impacted the windshield of the vehicle. The windshield sustained severe damage, but the vehicle was driven from the scene.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Injuries were reported after an ATV accident at 7:19 p.m. Friday on the Pecatonica State Trail in the Town of Willow Springs. Reports indicate that the driver, whose name was not immediately released, lost control and went into the river. The driver was injured and transferred by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. The Wisconsin DNR is investigating.

- Injuries were reported from a one-vehicle accident at 10:02 a.m. Saturday on Wis. 23 in the Town of Willow Springs. Reports indicate that Michael Bello, 29, Darlington, was southbound on Wis. 23 when he fell asleep, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and into the ditch, where it overturned. Bello was transported to Lafayette County Memorial Hospital. The vehicle had extensive damage and was towed. Bello was cited for no valid driver's license and no vehicle insurance.
