MONROE - On March 31:

• A one-vehicle crash where the driver left the scene was reported at 2 a.m. on the W1200 block of County F in the Town of Decatur. When deputies arrived, no one was located near or in the vehicle. The vehicle was traveling westbound on County F when it entered the north ditch and impacted. The vehicle proceeded to drive westbound in the ditch for a couple hundred feet, before striking a culvert and became stuck. The vehicle sustained functional damage to its entire driver side, front, and front right corner. The vehicle was towed from the scene and taken to the GRSO Impound Lot. Deputies were eventually able to make contact with the driver and owner of the truck, Chad R. Heins, 38, of Albany, the next day. Heins admitted to driving the truck and crashed into the ditch because he was looking for his cellphone while driving. Heins reported no injuries during the crash. Heins was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control, non-registration of auto, operate motor vehicle without insurance and failure of operator to notify police of accident. The case is considered closed and Heins has a court date.

• No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 10:52 p.m. in the N5500 block of Feldt Road in the Town of Mt. Pleasant. Bryss J. Shover, 19, Monticello, and Abigail P. Sewell, 17, Orangeville, were traveling southbound on Feldt Road. Sewell began to negotiate a curve in the road and Shover was following close behind and sideswiped Sewell's vehicle. Both drivers reported no injuries. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. Shover was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and was released pending court.
