Thomas L. Melland, age 46, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the University Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1970 in Monroe, the son of Calvin and Myrtle (Seffrood) Melland and was a 1988 graduate of South Wayne High School. Thomas and Jill Stites were married on September 9, 1995 in Orangeville, IL.
Thomas was employed with Ace Concrete in South Wayne. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jill of Monroe, parents, Calvin and Myrtle Melland of South Wayne; children: Chelsea (Adam Tillis Fiancee) Holland of Pearl City, IL; Buddy, Amanda and Olivia Melland all of Monroe; brothers, Alan (Lee Ann) Melland and Jerry Melland both of South Wayne; sisters, Julie (Mike) Vondra of Platteville and Lori Melland of South Wayne.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave., with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 25th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial fund is being established for his children's education.
