Shirley B. Johnson, age 80, of Brodhead, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 15, 1930 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Olson) LaRock. Shirley graduated from Sparta High School. She married Alfred C. Johnson on May 31, 1948 in Decorah, Iowa. She ran Johnson Produce with her husband for 23 years; she then went to work for the Swiss Colony for 5 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, she enjoyed reading, flowers, computer games and researching her geneaology, but her greatest moments were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by 12 children: 5 sons: Richard of Beloit, Chris of Brodhead, Joseph (Brenda) of Vinemont, AL, Michael (Tracy) of Juda, Matthew of Brodhead; 7 daughters: Joan Klassy of South Wayne, Catherine (Mike Bainbridge) Blakely of Monroe, Barb Schultz of Beloit, Susan (Donald Richardson) Johnson of Janesville, Carol (Michael) Savage of Aurora, MO, Amy (Patrick) Zweifel of Orangeville, IL, and Stacy Johnson of Janesville; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Garnet Ponder of East Point, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Penny; a grandson John Wuthrich; a great grandson, Pierson Blakely; a brother, Hugh LaRock, and 3 sisters: Vera Maack, Sara Shaw, and Evelyn Arentz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Peder Johanson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Everson Funeral Home, Brodhead.
