Ruth E. Olson, age 77 of Monroe, Wisconsin, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at her home. She was born December 5, 1930 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thomas and Bessie (Kading) Peterson and graduated from South Wayne High School.
Ruth and Harry E. Olson were married on August 10, 1950 in South Wayne, WI. Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Women of the Moose Chapter #599 in Monroe. She loved her fellow workers as family at Farm & Fleet in Monroe where she worked for 40 years. Ruth enjoyed playing cards with Jeanette, Shirley and Amanda, dancing, traveling, and listening to music by the Peterson Orchestera.
Surviving are the love of her life for 61 years - her husband, Harry E. Olson of Monroe; children, Lynn (Ron) Boeck of New Glarus, Ronald (Jean) Olson of Pecatonica, IL, and Diane (Mike) Paulson of Monroe; grandchildren, Teri (Derek) Howard and Tracy (Joe) Cooling of Pecatonica, IL; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Emily; sister, Jeanette Lane of Monroe; brothers, Wayne Peterson of Sparta, WI and Roger (Rita) Peterson of Ft. Byron, IL; sister-in-law, Yvonne (Ken Link) Ninneman of Marshall, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Ricky Olson; and brother, Arthur Peterson. Every child that Ruth met was considered as her own and everyone she met was cherished.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Monroe with Pastor John Tabaka and Pastor Ronald Massen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe.
A memorial fund has been established in Ruth's memory.
