Roy C. Schweizer, age 79 of Monroe, formerly of Monticello died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Monroe Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Roy was born May 8, 1931 in Monroe to Emil and Anna E. (Bodenman) Schweizer.
He is survived by his only sibling, Anna M. (Schweizer) Klassy and her husband Roger Klassy of New Glarus; two nieces, Nedra Klassy-Disch of Brodhead, and Renee (Jerry) Groom of New Glarus; and one nephew, Michael (Bonnie) Klassy of Monticello. He is further survived by three great nieces, one great nephew, and two great great nieces.
Roy served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Europe. Following his honorable discharge from the military, he completed college and began his career as a teacher. He taught in New Lisbon, Monticello, and Monroe before retiring in 1986. He will be remembered by many for his love of fishing and an occasional trip to the casino.
Roy had requested there be no funeral and his family is honoring his wishes. The family has scheduled a celebration of his life on May 7, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Monticello Legion Hall/Community Center. To send a condolence to the family go to www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
