Rosella "Rose" Mary Muenich, age 96 of Monroe, died Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Rose was born June 27, 1912 in Lafayette County, the daughter of John and Jennie (Farrel) Flanagan. She graduated from Monroe High School and Green County Teachers College. Rose and Malcolm "Dutch" Muenich were married on October 29, 1936 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. Dutch preceded her in death on February 21, 1974. She taught school for eight years, worked at the Swiss Colony for five years, and was employed for 21 years at Sentry Foods in Monroe where she was manager of the bakery. Following her retirement she enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Switzerland.
Rose was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe and was also an active member of the Monroe Senior Center where she enjoyed exercising, square and line dancing, and singing in the Senior Choir. She also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, knitting, writing poems for family and friends, watching the Badger and Packer games, and helped make favors for the Apostolate to the Handicapped dinners at the Monroe High School. Rose and LaVerne Trotter were married in 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, Hollis (Chuck) Dearth of Monroe; her sons, Jerry (Mary Ann) Muenich of Naples, FL, and Richard (Carol) Muenich of Menomonee Falls, WI; two grandchildren, Tammy (Bryan) Rach of Monroe and Matt (Gerri) Muenich of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Brevin and Dagon Rach and Shawn Amber Muenich. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a sister, Viola Hanson; and a brother, Bernard Flanagan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 11 a.m., at St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe, with Monsignor Thomas Campion, Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Rosella's name.
