DARLINGTON - Roseanna Van Matre, age 80 of Darlington, WI, passed away on March 23, 2013 surrounded by her family at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. She was the sixth of nine children, born on April 9, 1932 to James and Mary Ann (O'Brien) Holland on the family farm in Kendall Township. Roseanna graduated from Darlington High School in 1950 and was married to her high school sweetheart Donald J. Van Matre on April 21, 1951. She was baptized, received her First Holy Communion and was married at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Truman. She was employed for over 25 years as an assistant supervisor at Swiss Colony Data Center in Monroe, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. Roseanna enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards with the ladies on Wednesday's, watching the birds at her feeder, working crossword puzzles and playing "Upwords". She was fiercely proud of her Catholic faith and Irish heritage.

Roseanna is survived by her seven children: Todd (Deb) Van Matre, Darlington, Kristal Phillips, Monroe, Kimberlee (Rick Ubersox) Jacobsen, Shullsburg, Thomas (Jodi Gile) Van Matre, Darlington, Karen (Jim) Debilzen, Brooklyn, Marcia (Fred) Blackbourn, Shullsburg, and Deana (Scott) Warren, Northville, MI; eleven grandchildren, Lindsey (Andrew Molzoff) Van Matre, Lucas Van Matre, Bart (Brenda) Phillips, Joelle (Jesse Landwehr) Phillips, Jasen (Jenny) Jacobsen, Branden Jacobsen, James (Tara) Debilzen, Molly (Evan) Larsen, Skyler Debilzen, Bryce Blackbourn and Max Blackbourn; two step grandchildren: Allen (Sandy) Phillips and Shannon (David) Schleicher; six great grandchildren: Kyla and Zackery Phillips, Amelia and Roland Debilzen, Sean and Levi Larsen; three step-great grandchildren: Brooke (Bryan Rupp) Wedige, Zachary and Nathan Wedige; and one step-great-great grandchild, Hailey Wedige-Rupp.

She is further survived by three sisters: Eileen Pickett, Darlington, Loretta (Donald) Wilhelmson, Argyle and Vera Finley, Oregon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: LaVerne and Iona Loken, Darlington,

Kathryn Geissbuhler, Darlington, Roger and Diana Van Matre, Tucson, AZ., Jim and Sylvia Van Matre, Darlington, and Ray and Jean Van Matre, Darlington; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, Roseanna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Van Matre, Oct. 10, 1984; four sisters and one brother: Eleanor Bartig, Mary Gille, Lorraine Holland, Joseph Holland and Mildred Schewe; brothers-in-law: Robert Bartig, Paul Gille, Merle Pickett, Ken Schewe, Robert Finley and Rudy Geissbuhler; one son-in-law, Neil Jacobsen; three nephews: David Schewe, Michael Finley and Patrick Gille; and one niece, Joanne (Loken) McDermott.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, with Fr. Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet St., Darlington, WI, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Monroe Clinic Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Lafayette Co. for their exceptional care and support of our mother.

A memorial fund is being established in Roseanna's name.
