Rosabel (Rosie) L. Friedli Babler

Rosabel (Rosie) L. Friedli Babler died December 31, 2013 at her home. She was born May 26, 1927 in Deaconess Hospital, Monroe, WI, to Edwin and Rose (Walters) Friedli. Rosie graduated from Monroe High School in 1944 and from Green County Teacher's College in 1946. She taught at Round Grove School in 1946 and in the fall of 1946 she married Robert F. Babler, Nov. 29, 1946, in Nashua, IA in the Little Brown Church. Rosie joined the Round Grove Homemakers Club which was one of the Charter Homemakers Clubs and was an active member for several years until they disbanded.

She and Bob farmed many years in Monroe Township. They retired in 1972 and moved to Monroe where Rosie worked at First National Bank.

She is survived by her two adopted daughters, Linda Ann Babler of Madison who owns Atwood Publishing and Jody Ann (Mark) Babler Smith of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and grandchildren Joseph Smith and Robyn Smith of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Ames of Rockford and Barbara (Jim) Kirkland of Clearwater, FL; and by her dear friend Kathryn Pierce of Monroe.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Babler F. Babler on October 15, 2004; two sisters, Betty Scheider and Lorraine Tollakson; three brothers, Edgar, Robert, and Anthony Friedli; and a brother-in-law, Richard Ames.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon to celebrate her life. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial funds will be established in her name at the Green County Food Pantry and Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
