Rolland D. "Rollie" Coplien, age 75 of Juda, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital after suffering a massive heart attack. He was born on April 20, 1941 in Brodhead, the son of Earl and Beatrice (Pinnow) Coplien.
Rolland graduated from Juda High School in 1959 and enlisted in the National Guard (Monroe Company B) in that same year. He was honorably discharged in May 1967. Rolland was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nancy Kaderly, on November 26, 1960. Together they raised two daughters. He was recognized as the Outstanding Conversation Farmer in 1991 and received The Good Year Award in 1992 for his conservation efforts. Rolland was a farmer at heart and farmed for 52 years in the Juda/Monroe area until he passed into eternal life. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and was an avid Packer, Bucks, Brewer and Badger fan.
Rolland is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy; his two loving daughters, Laurie (Dan) Soddy of Franklin and Joan (Laird W.) Strand of Appleton; five grandchildren, Ashley (Jim) Onsager, Benjamin (Emalee) Soddy, Nathaniel (Samantha Larsen) Soddy, Zachary (Samantha Mangold) Soddy, and Laird Rolland Strand; and three great-grandchildren, Logan, Abigail and Natalie Onsager.
He is further survived by three brothers, Earl Truman Coplien, Richard (Carol) Coplien and Kurt (Jane) Coplien; and two sisters, Phyllis (Tom) Nordyke and Dorothy (Alvin) Wire. Rolland is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene Coplien.
A celebration of Rolland's life will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe, followed by a gathering at the Monroe Moose Lodge for a time of fellowship and memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rolland's name to the Green County Veterans Association.
