Robert P. "Bob" Atkinson age 90 of Albany, Wisconsin, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at his home. He was born April 5, 1923 in Albany the son of Francis L. "F.L." and Lucille (Pryce) Atkinson and was a graduate of Albany High School.
Robert married Madelene Loeffel on October 7, 1944 in Albany and they farmed near Albany. Bob was self-employed in the Albany area, worked at Krostue Implement, and was a Deputy for the Albany Police Department. He was a 50-year member of Albany Masonic Lodge, Albany Fire Department, Albany Village Board, Albany Historical Society, and enjoyed bowling, hunting, traveling, and was an avid sports fan. Bob enjoyed portraying "Reuben Folsum," an early Albany area settler who lived in a cave along the Sugar River, in Yesteryear parades.
Surviving are his wife, Madelene Atkinson of Albany; children, Dick (Deb) Atkinson of Monroe, Dennis (Betsy) Atkinson of Albany, Gail (Gene) Briggs of Albany, and Jan (Rick) Flood of Brooklyn; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and grandson, Tim Atkinson.
Masonic Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 16, 2013 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe with Karl Gant officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albany.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
