BRODHEAD - Robert Derendinger, age 89, of Brodhead, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at home following a brief illness. He was born in Monroe, WI, on March 3, 1920, the son of Charles and Annie (Kleineschay) Derendinger. He married Dorothy V. Qualley on October 2, 1944 in Monticello, WI.
Bob had farmed near Belleville, WI before moving to Brodhead in 1956. He had been a milk hauler for Wanzer Dairy and worked as a carpenter in the Brodhead area for many years. He was the Greenwood Cemetery sexton for the past 21 years. Bob belonged to the Congregation United Church of Christ in Brodhead, the Albany Lion's Club, and former member of the Green County Conservation League. Bob was a master woodworker and enjoyed spending time in his workshop.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Brodhead; a daughter, Marilyn (Neil) Rufer, Monroe; a brother, Calvin Derendinger, Belleville; a sister, Laura Ochsner, Albany, WI; a granddaughter, Samantha Murray, Brodhead; two step-granddaughters, Laura (Mark) Westphal, Belleville, Miranda (Todd) Christen, Monroe; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry in 1949; two brothers, Walter and Paul; and two sisters, Marie Rosa and Wilma Wenger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Brodhead, with Rev. R. Tiffany Bates officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albany, WI. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI.
