MCCONNELL - Robert C. Kleckler, 86 of McConnell, IL passed away at his home on Monday, March 18, 2013. Robert was born on April 22, 1926 in Waddams Township, Stephenson County, Illinois the son of Charles and Lillian (Jones) Kleckler. He married Sophie P. Affolter in 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monroe, Wisconsin. Robert farmed with his wife on the family farm his father and grandfather had owned before him. When he retired from farming he went to work for the Lena-Winslow High School as a custodian until he retired in 1994.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena and he enjoyed fishing and carpentry work, gardening and planting trees.
He is survived by his wife Sophie of McConnell, 5 children; Lynn (Gene) Ludewig of Florence, IL, Deb (Bill) Doolan of Lena, IL, Robin (Bob) Homan of Freeport, Steven Kleckler of McConnell, IL and Mark (Jane) Kleckler of Lena, IL, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, many numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters, and 1 grandson.
Services will be held at 11:30 AM., on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, IL.
Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. at the church.
Rev. Rick Bader will officiate at the services.
Burial will take place at Lena Burial Park, Lena, IL.
A memorial has been established in his name.
