Richard C. "Dick" Hagen

Richard C. "Dick" Hagen, age 86, of South Wayne, died on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Upland Hills Health Center in Dodgeville. He was born on December 27, 1925 the son of Martin and Goldie (Moen) Hagen. Dick married Frances Cavanaugh on August 5, 1946 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Early on he lived and farmed with his parents in the Shullsburg area, he and Frances then moved to the South Wayne area where they have farmed for the past 62 years. Along with farming, Dick worked for REA Electric Company, hauled milk for area farmers, made cement blocks in Shullsburg and ground corn and oats for surrounding farmers. He enjoyed playing cards, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family, spoiling his grand, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Frances of South Wayne; children, Jack Hagen, Ed (Ginger) Hagen, Jerry Hagen, Fred (Kathleen) Hagen, Ruth (Doug) Fenn, Susie (David) Aurand, Jimmy (Tara) Hagen, Angie (Scott) Butler; 27 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; sons, Tom Hagen and Dickie Hagen; sisters, Stella Rood, Hazel Gilbertson, Alma Hawkins; brothers, Earl, Elmer, Norman and Melvin Hagen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot with Celebrant Fr. David Wanish. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Gratiot. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Church. A memorial fund is being established in Dick's memory. The Hanson Funeral Home, South Wayne is serving the family.
