LENA - Raymond E. Lapp, 96, of Lena passed away on November 6, 2009 at the Lena Living Center. Raymond was born on December 14, 1912 in West Point Township, Stephenson County, IL. He was the son of Thomas J. and Matilda (Shellhase) Lapp.
His parents passed away early in life and he was raised by his Grandmother, Mrs. Jacob (Caroline Miller) Shellhase. Raymond attended Excelsior rural school and graduated from High School in 1930. After High School he took up farming and married Helen Manthei on November 22, 1936 together they continued farming for 32 years. In 1970 they moved to Lena and he worked for Noller's Supermarket for 15 years. He then helped his brother Wilbur with some work and was always ready to help friends and neighbors. He did some carpenter work at the Lena Museum, and also made deliveries for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Survivors include 1 Son Richard "Dick" (Joyce) Lapp of Rockford, IL, 1 Daughter Dorothy (S. Edward) Kuhse of Brodhead, WI. 3 Grandchildren Steven and Michael Kuhse both of Brodhead, WI. Amy (Darrell) Faldet of Brodhead, WI. 1 Great Granddaughter Hailey Ann Everson of Brodhead, WI. Special Niece Carol Tessendorf and Nephew Darrell Lapp.
Preceded in death by his Parents, his wife Helen in 2006, and brother Wilbur Lapp.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM. Tuesday, November 10, 2009. At the Leamon Funeral Home Lena, IL.
Rev. Roger Hurlbut will officiate the services.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Burial will be held in Lena Burial Park, Lena, IL.
