Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD - Kory R. Costa, 18, Brodhead, was arrested during a traffic stop in the 1900 block of 1st Center Avenue at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, on a warrant issued by Argyle Municipal Court. He was taken to jail. The driver, Cody R. Franklin, 20, Beloit, was cited for driving without a license and with a suspended vehicle registration.

• James M. Terry, 61, Clarion, Iowa, was cited for speeding in the 600 block of 1st Street at 9:12 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

• Tyson L. Blum, 29, Brodhead, was cited for non-registration of a vehicle and driving with a revoked license in the 800 block of East 6th Avenue at 5:42 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

• Kevin M. Slater, 35, Brodhead, was cited for speeding, non-registration of an auto and driving without vehicle insurance in the 600 block of 1st Street at 10:14 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.



Monroe Police

MONROE - On Monday, Oct. 21:

• An employer in the 200 block of 3rd Street asked for police help at 3:42 a.m. with getting keys back from a terminated employee.

• The theft of a camera and a small amount of cash from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Lake Drive was reported at 11:11 a.m.

• A stray cat was reported at 1 p.m. in the 2100 block of 20th Avenue. Police contacted the Green County Humane Society.

• A metal globe lawn ornament was found in the 1000 block of 15th Avenue and turned over to police at 2:07 p.m.

• Two young boys were warned at 3:16 p.m. for riding their bikes on a downtown sidewalk, a violation of city code.

• A theft of prescription painkillers was reported at 3:59 p.m. from a residence in the 1100 block of 9th Street. Police have leads.

• A resident in the 1600 block of 22nd Avenue called police at 8:11 p.m. because another woman came to her home and yelled at her because her son allegedly egged her house. The resident said this was impossible because her son was home all night. Police advised the women to work out their differences in a better manner.

• Police were called to the 900 block of 20th Street at 9:13 p.m. for an allegation from a 40-year-old man that a 17-year-old boy hit him and then left the area. The teen wasn't located but police referred charges against him to the district attorney. While trying to find the suspect, police stopped a car in the area and found four underage occupants with open intoxicants. Citations for underage drinking are pending against the two females and two males.

• Police were called to the 1100 block of 17th Street at 11:05 p.m. for a death investigation of an 83-year-old man believed to have died of natural causes.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22:

• A burglary of a home in the 2000 block of 15th Avenue was reported at 3:12 a.m. Flatscreen TVs, a game deck, games and car stereo components had been taken. An ex-girlfriend taking revenge was named as a possible suspect.

• A mother in the 500 block of West 21st Street called police on her two sons at 7:15 a.m. for fighting with each other and refusing to go to school. The boys, an eighth-grader at Monroe Middle School and a freshman Monroe High School, were separated when they went to their respective schools.

• A 9-year-old male student causing a disturbance was reported at 2:18 p.m. at Parkside Elementary. A parent was called to pick him up.

• A bank in the 1600 block of 10th Street reported a man at 3:03 p.m. who cashed two checks with non-sufficient funds in his account.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23:

• A resident in an apartment complex in the 2200 block of 1st Street called police at 4:21 a.m. after finding a young boy in the hallway. He had escaped from a nearby apartment while his babysitter wasn't watching.

• Police were called to the Monroe High School parking lot at 2:23 p.m. to document a broken bug shield on a vehicle. The bug shield was busted while two boys were fighting each other.

On Thursday, Oct. 24:

• An employee at a business in the 1100 block of 17th Avenue called 911 by mistake at 10:04 a.m.

• An argument on Facebook between two girls, ages 12 and 13, was reported at 10:38 a.m. in the 500 block of West 21st Street. They were advised to unfriend each other.

• A resident in the 1800 block of 16th Avenue was warned to move an antique tractor parked in the backyard after police received a complaint at 10:38 a.m.

• A pair of glasses found at the Parks and Recreation community Center in the 1100 block of 18th Avenue were turned over to police at 1:41 p.m.

• A 9-year-old male student causing a disturbance was reported at 2:36 p.m. at Parkside Elementary. A parent came to get him. Police are referring him to Juvenile Intake for possible discipline.

• An unlawful number of cats were reported at 4:21 p.m. in the home of a known cat hoarder in the 1100 block of 19th Street. The case was referred to the building inspector.

• A woman in the 700 block of 18th Avenue reported at 5:33 p.m. that her 16-year-old son got into an argument and shoving match with her date over a McDonald's order. She called police again two days later, at 7:39 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, to report that the man, now her ex-date, yelled at her as they passed each other coming and going from a convenience store. No one was cited or arrested.

• An apparent hit-and-run on a vehicle was reported at 8:43 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot in the 300 block of 6th Avenue West. After reviewing video surveillance footage, police discovered that in fact someone had intentionally pushed a shopping cart into the vehicle.

• A 41-year-old Monroe woman was taken to a detox facility in Madison after a family member reported her as incapacitated by alcohol at 11:54 p.m. at her home in the 2000 block of 18th Avenue.

On Friday, Oct. 25:

• An anonymous caller at 11:41 a.m. reported trailers and an unregistered vehicle in a yard in the 1600 block of 17th Street. The property owner was warned.

• An unauthorized transaction on a debit card was reported at 1:05 p.m. at Walmart. The card had been used fraudulently at other businesses in the area, too.

• A lost cellphone was reported at 1:29 p.m. in the 1900 block of 12th Avenue.

• An argument between two girls over Facebook and text messaging was reported at 3:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of 16th Avenue.

• A resident was warned for allowing a Labrador dog to run at large after the dog was reported at 4:07 p.m. in the 2500 block of 10th Street.

• A yellow Labrador found in the 2200 block of 6th Street was reported at 5:14 p.m. The dog was turned over to the Humane Society.

• An unwanted person was reported at 8:52 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of 16th Street. Police saw the man fleeing and chased after him but were unsuccessful in catching him. The case was referred to the district attorney. While in pursuit of the suspect, an officer ran full-face into a clothesline and sustained minor injuries.

On Saturday, Oct. 26:

• An officer checked at 12:17 a.m. on a man in Northeast Park, 2700 5th St., and warned him to leave since it was after park hours.

• A 911 misdial was received at 8:57 a.m. from the 2600 block of Golf Vu Court.

• A man was warned at 5:42 p.m. for having a dog in Honey Creek Park.

• A 911 misdial was received at 6:49 p.m. from the 2500 block of 10th Street, possibly when someone rolled over the phone on the couch.

• A dog owner was warned for allowing it to bark excessively and run at large at 8:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of 17th Avenue.

On Sunday, Oct. 27:

• A man found sleeping in a vehicle in Twining Park at 12:20 a.m. was told to move since it was after park hours.

• An officer on patrol at 2:15 a.m. in the 1300 block of 17th Street noticed a fight in progress in the doorway of Old Smokey's Tavern. The group had been ejected from the bar and they continued pushing and dragging each other out the door. The case remains under investigation.

• A 911 pocket dial was received at 12:43 p.m. from the area of 16th Avenue and 14th Street.

• A civil dispute between estranged spouses was reported at 3:11 p.m. in the 500 block of West 21st Street. They were advised to take their issues to their lawyers.

• A 6-year-old boy playing with a phone called 911 by mistake at 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of 23rd Street.

• A civil dispute between roommates was reported at 4:48 p.m. at the police station. A man left the shared home and discovered upon his return that his roommates used his iPod as collateral for rent money during his absence.

• A resident reported live-trapping a stray cat in the 2100 block of 18th Avenue at 5:58 p.m. The Humane Society was full and could not take the cat.

• A small pumpkin was reported stolen at 7:38 p.m. from a display in front of The Pet Spot, 1027 16th Ave.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Juliete Mejia, 49, Beloit, was cited for speeding and driving without a license at 1:18 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in the W1800 block of Wis. 11 in Spring Grove Township.

• Justin E. Bond, 32, Monroe, was arrested at 8:08 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Green County Justice Center on a probation warrant issued by the Department of Corrections. He was jailed.

• Three people were cited after deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Wis. 59 at 6th 1/2 Street in Monroe at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. Alejandro L. Herrera, 35, Dodgeville, was cited for driving with a suspended license. A passenger identified as Saurah Jamaleddin, 33, Woodlake, Calif., was cited for possession of marijuana (less than 25 grams). Another passenger, Reuben A. Chavez, Jr., 33, also of Woodlake, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. The sheriff's K-9 team assisted with the stop.Mary Jane Grenzow 11/3/13
