MONROE - On Monday, June 3:
Brian T. Ammon, 31, Monroe, was cited for inattentive driving and for driving without insurance after officers responded at 1:21 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident in the 700 block of 15th Avenue. Ammon collided with a vehicle driven by Guy W. Blom, 51, Monroe. No injuries were reported. The vehicles sustained moderate damage.
A complaint of tall grass in a yard outside a house in the 2000 block of 28th Street was received at 8:40 a.m. Police have gotten other complaints about the property. It is in foreclosure.
An officer doing a welfare check on a resident in the 1800 block of 25th Street at 8:51 a.m. noted that the grass in the yard is more than foot tall.
An anonymous caller at 9:40 a.m. complained about tall grass on a property in the 2000 block of 6th Street. The property belongs to Monroe Clinic. Police advised the company of the complaint.
A property owner in the 800 block of 13th Avenue contacted police at 10:31 a.m. with a question about what the ramifications are for tenants who put out scraps for wild animals. The scraps have been attracting skunks, possums, feral cats and a groundhog.
Police responded at 1:36 p.m. to a concern about dogs left in a pickup truck parked in a lot at Monroe Clinic. The owner was in the hospital. The dogs didn't appear in distress and had food and water.
At 2:35 p.m., a person in the 1100 block of 7th Avenue complained about not receiving products mail-ordered from Colony Brands. Police referred the person to the company.
On Tuesday, June 4:
Police were called to Monroe Alternative Charter School at 9:36 a.m. for a report of a disruptive 13-year-old male student. The case was referred to Juvenile Intake for a charge of disorderly conduct. He was taken home. Less than an hour later, police were called to the home in the 1600 block of 13th Avenue for another disturbance involving the same boy. Officers at the scene reported he tried to get away from the residence when he saw them coming and they had to tackle him. He kicked officers as they tried to put him in a squad car and also kicked and damaged a piece of equipment in the vehicle. He is being referred for charges of disorderly conduct, attempted battery to an officer, resisting arrest and criminal damage to property.
A property owner in the 100 block of West 8th Street was warned to mow long grass.
A 10-speed men's bicycle was reported stolen at 11:27 a.m. in the 1600 block of 12th Street.
The theft of a wallet out of a women's purse was reported at 12:47 p.m. in the 1000 block of 18th Avenue. She left the purse unattended outside and came back to discover the wallet missing.
A friendly black and gray stray cat was captured at about 4 p.m. in the 500 block of West 21st Street and taken to the Green County Humane Society.
Staff at Monroe Middle School called 911 at 5:33 p.m. to report that a mother struck her 13-year-old daughter in the face in front of them. The mother, 52, voluntarily came down to the police station and was interviewed about the incident. The case is being sent to the District Attorney for a possible charge.
An apartment resident in the 1500 block of 13th Avenue reported that a person entrusted access to the apartment had stolen jewelry, cash and prescription medication while the resident was away. Police have leads.

MONROE - Valerie A. Reichling, 30, Monroe, was cited for an eighth offense of driving with a suspended license after deputies stopped her at 11:23 p.m. Monday, June 3, in the 2800 block of 6th Street in Monroe. She was also cited for driving without proof of vehicle insurance.
An investigation is ongoing into a one-vehicle crash in the W2600 block of Wis. 59 in Sylvester Township. Deputies were called to the scene at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, and discovered the driver had fled. Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was westbound when it left the road and lost a tire. It continued along the ditch, then veered back into the road for 100 yards. It was severely damaged and towed.

Police were called at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, to investigate a theft of property from a residence. An investigation found this was a civil issue between two people, and no criminal activity occurred.

Blindert was attempting to turn onto State Street and turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Susan K. Peterson, 58, Darlington. Their vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Peterson's vehicle was moderately damaged and towed.
